Enjoy Summer Fun in Schaumburg!

a nature view filled walking path with a sunset

When the weather is nice, there is plenty of reasons to get outside, be active, and explore the outdoors in Schaumburg.

Did you know that there is a large working farm, right in the heart of Schaumburg? Heritage Farm, located at 201 S. Plum Grove Road, is a throwback to life in the 1880s in Schaumburg. Here, you can find chickens, pigs and cattle. In addition to the livestock, visitors can also walk the grounds and see old farm barns and farm buildings and take to the unpaved trails to discover other areas of Spring Valley. Weekend visitors can also take a short tour of the restored and furnished farmhouse on the property.

If you enjoy long walks by the water, you can hit the pavement and enjoy the scenes around the nearly mile-long trail of Volkening Lake. Located at 900 W. Schaumburg Road, next to the Schaumburg police station, the scenic path around the lake is 7/10th of a mile around and is ideal to walk, run or just enjoy a moment of solitude. For those who want an extra challenge, Volkening Lake also features an outdoor workout equipment area.

Speaking of outdoor play, maybe golf is more your speed. The Schaumburg Golf Club was voted as one of the Golfer’s Choice: Best of Illinois Golf Courses. Rated Four Stars by Golf Digest, Schaumburg Golf Club offers golfers all the amenities of a country club setting at public course prices.
